A Little Knowledge is a Dangerous Thing when it comes to Internet Marketing

About 3 years ago I first discovered internet marketing, and I thought it looked like the easiest way to make money ever invented. You simply created a website and put out a Google Ad and waited for the money to pour in. That was was what all the “gurus” said would happen and this was clearly a “no-brainer.”
Of course, nothing of the sort happened and I learned that the key to internet marketing is practice, testing, resilience and self-discipline. There were no magic bullets just a lot of hard work and effort. About 95% of all online businesses fail so why is it that we believe all the hype and think it is a valid get rich quick scheme?
I think part of the problem is that it all seems so easy. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist or go to medical school or be a genius at programming. Anyone can set up a blog or do basic SEO. The problem is that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing and we must not delde ourselves that we are experts after reading a few articles and buying a program. Then what sabotages us is our inability to stay focused, consistent and flexible. Most of us give up far too quickly when reality fails to live up to the hype of the promises.
An online business is like any other business. If you want to be successful you have to plan, execute your plan, work incredibly hard and sell the right product to the right market at the right price with the right message. The technology might have changed but the principles are timeless. So make sure you go into this business fully prepared and with realistic expectations of what it takes to be successful. Get the fundamentals right and you will make money.
