Why do 95% of all Internet Marketing Campaigns Fail?

Recently I have seen the figure of 95% quoted several times as the failure rate for internet marketing campaigns and new online businesses. Now I don’t know where this number comes from or if it is based on specific research and data. What I can tell you is that this does not surprise me at all, and would closely accord with my own findings.

There are many reasons why this number is so high. It might be down to traditional marketing mistakes such as selecting the wrong product or market, or failing to match the message to the target audience. Sometimes it is due to poor execution of a specific strategy such as a poor email or a sub standard landing page.

The basics of internet marketing are simple and straightforward, yet time after time businesses ignore them or try to take short cuts. Above all, marketers fail to effectively integrate the different parts of their campaigns and they do not think through how their brand, value proposition, website content, traffic generation, lead capture and sales process all work together effectively.

You might have an outstanding product, great pitch and attract lots of website visitors but, if you fail to convert these visitors into prospects by capturing their email addresses, your campaign will be ineffective. So I would recommend that you plan every aspect of your internet marketing campaign very carefully and test each part separately and also in conjunction with each other part. Create a group of 10-20 users and test, measure and improve the process step by step until you get it right. Then you will join the elite 5% of successful internet marketers!
